I enjoy deviant art, i think its fun and def worth setting one up, o dont bother with socail networking sites at all for me its all about art and thats what i use it for! theres alot of wierd manga/ainme/anthropomorphic crap of it but ignore all that shit and its a pretty decent place!AND there is some major talent on it, id say check it out heres a link to mine!http://kevmcnamara.deviantart.com/

Ha that pictures class! and probably sadly true! Ah at the end of the day with all these things its what you make of it, look you'd survive without it, its not for everyone, i enjoy it, and seeing some of the genuine great art some folks produce on it, is great, gives me a kick up the arse i need to get working and thats it. fun and inspiring, its not the devil...just an art site...no big deal
Don't listen to these naysayers Brian! I too think social networks are poo, and refuse to be a part of it, but DA is alright. At least it's a art centric social network. Yeah, there is a LOT of crap, but it's the internet so that's a given.
And like Kevin says above, it's what you make of it.
Even if you're not joining I'm preaching the Brian Churilla love by posting colored Anchor stuff.
